Hi all,
I have a HP laptop with only a hdmi connector for video output.
I want to connect the laptop to a VGA monitor, only to find HP don't sell the connector cable in the UK
A guy at a well known computer supplies place suggested using a DisplayPort to VGA adapter, but is this compatible?
My knowledge and use on DisplayPort is zero
Thanks

Seems your choices are: HDfury adapter (c.£50) or a cable like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003H24OIW/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller=
Apparently you'll need to check (with the cable) whether VGA accepts a digital signal. Otherwise you'll need the converter.
Some further research will be required before purchasing - make sure you do it!

VGA is an analogue interface, HDMI is digital. If your monitor has a DVI port then you can get a simple adapter cable. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Thanks for the replies.
I had seen the Fury device, but nothing beats experience.
Sadly, I will have to connect to VGA monitors in the workplace, my home monitor has dvi already.0 -
What model is your HP laptop? It's very unusual for a laptop to only have a HDMI outputpoppy100

I could live with the hdmi port, if HP were to offer the simple low cost adapter to UK customers, but they don't - it's only available in the US.
It's another case of non-US customers being short changed.0 -
Ahh yes, it does
Thanks Poppy10
I can see an adapter at Aria too.
It might sound odd, but I have never bothered hooking it up to external displays. I don't really use the graphics side of the laptop at all.0
