IB50 exemption from medical

Hello there
It's that time of year when my wife has to complete an IB50. I was, again, looking through the criteria for those who might be exempt from the medical and noted one criteria which might be relevant to her condition. However, I cannot find any clarification on just how this might be interpreted. Condition as below.
My wife had a heart-attack a few years ago and has subsequently suffered from chronic angina which is documented as uncontrolled. Her angina relates to mild activity AND happens whilst at rest - in night etc. (Variant angina) To be 'progresive' I'm assuming that the condition must be deteriorating. However, I'm not at all clear. Any observations, as ever, would be welcomed.

it sound to me like you need to phone the job center and talk about claiming dla as this has lasted more than three months and will last longer than three and sounds very debilitating so i would try and claim dla then you could get carers allowenec if you care for her full time and then there will be no more medicals if you find out your not eligible then when you fill out the ib50 in the space at the back write your concerns and see whats said she might no need to attend a medical at all if you explain what you believe the exemption is and why its relevent to your case
    good luck

Your posts would be much easier to read if you used some punctuation.

More info about the PCA is here-

In the meantime, you should have the IB50 completed and returned to ATOS asap. ATOS will decide if your wife is/is not exempt from the PCA.
  • Thanks for the advice. Appreciated the thoughts.
