£2.50 new M&S cosmetics range

I have just found out from work that M&S are to launch a new 'outstanding value' cosmetics range in which all the items are £2.50!:j

The range of colours will go from everyday classics to fashion colours.
There should be plenty of testers to try some products out on the back of your hand.:o

The range is to contain all the usuals of nail varnish, lip gloss, lip balm, lipstick, eye shadow, mascara, bronzing powder, foundation, concealer, blusher etc.

Saw this in the M&S mag, is the foundation any good?

  • Ooh, sounds good, when does it launch? I know that their other skin care is made by Clarins. I wonder who's making this for them?

The new range launched on Tues 19th Sept. Any store that already has a cosmetics range will have it in.

Has anyone tried any of it yet? What is it like?

Is it actually made by them? I chatted with cosmetics lady in M&S in Manchester a few weeks ago, and although the packaging is meant to look very similar, she told me they are using the same ingredients as Clarins....I may be switching to this range anyhow when my current batch of Clarins runs out, I tested a few items and they're very good indeed! And of course about 1/3 of the price!
  • I went into the M&S in Portsmouth yesterday and they didn't have the range yet.
They did have a sign saying it was coming soon, and that all the other make up is now on a 3 for 2 offer to make way for the new stock.

Yep, definitely made by Clarins, a friend of my husbands works for Clarins. I gave up paying for Clarins Foaming face wash ages ago, buy it from M&S now for about £4.50!! Make the switch, you won't regret it.

Bj-sailaway, how much was the Clarins face wash in comparison?

I'll ask some of my friends to see if they know who makes the new range.

The 'Just Perfect' range is being phased out and this new range will replace it. Some of the products are meant to be very similar but there is also the Per Una range in some stores that is meant to be used as a replacement if you wanted to.

They have got a list of the numbers so you can order it through the order system instore and they are supposed to be a superior product to Rimmel and Maybelline.

One of my daughter's friends worked for Clarins, and said that 'M&S skin care is made by Clarins' is a long-standing urban myth. Another poster said the same thing on another thread, probably the 'what the shops don't want us to know' hunt.

I was so determined not to believe her that I tried several products from the M&S sensitive skin range, and had a violent reaction, with really sore skin (I do have to admit that I have over-the-top sensitive skin). I wrote to M&S customer services, who said they didn't regard their products as specialised, and recommended buying skincare from 'one of the ranges designed for sensitive skin'.

So I'd advise anyone with tricky skin to proceed carefully. I'd love to know from someone who actually works for Clarins or M&S whether it's true or not.....my daughter's friend could of course have been protecting the company name. And I suppose even if it is made by them, it won't necessarily be to the same recipe.

What I'd really love to find is cut-price Clinique. I hate paying exorbitant prices for anything!

Wendym, I don't know whether it is true or not that Clarins makes M&S skin care. I have heard from several different places that they do. It could be that your daughters friend was protecting Clarins by denying this. They might have some kind of code of ethics or signed a secrecy document etc.

My skin is quite sensitive so I don't use loads of products on it like some people do but all the things I have tried from the M&S range have been fine, never had a reaction. For people that have sensitive skin though, I would definitely advise that you try testers first before making a purchase but of course with anywhere if something gave you a reaction you would get a refund.
