Hi Guys
I don't if you can help but on a regularly basis this message will appear on my screen
"This computer has recovered from a serious error"
when I look at the error this is what is says:
C:/DOCUME~1/COMPAQ~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/WER0917.dir00/mini081610.01.dmp
and
C:/DOCUME~1/COMPAQ~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/WER0917.dir00/sysdata.xml
Is this serious and also is there anything I can do to stop this happening? It tends to happen if I leave the computer on and come back to it later on. I have no programs running at the time either.
Thanks in advance.
Suzie

If it is windows XP then it's not too worrying really, a few things can help (I have been a tech for MANY years and I see this all the time).
I would start off (and this is for all verions of windows, not just XP) by running a repair based checkdisk, you can do this by clicking "start" and then choosing run (or you can hold down the windows key and press R at the same time). This will open the "run" box for you, type into this box this exact text:
chkdsk /r c:
This basically commands the machine to run a checkdisk on your c drive and repair any errors it finds, it does take anywhere form an hour upwards depending on the size of your drive but it can fix and sort out many errors on older machines.
After you have done this you could perform a disk defrag and possibly run a cleanup on the entire machine but I will keep checking back on this post and see how you got on with the checkdisk.
If you need any more help just give me a shout0 -
