How to be safe on sloping Roof ?

Hi,
My mother has asked me to paint the wood where the gutters are (not sure what they are called). However I can get to some with a ladder but they have a pouch area with a sloping roof.
I can get a ladder up to the slooping roof but how am I best to get to the guttering wood from there ? The only option I can think of is to try and walk up/on the sloping roof as I am sure I could reach the guttering but I am not at all sure how safe this will be. I can't use a roof ladder as there is no ridge to put it over.
Anyone got any suggestions or advice ?

Can you access the ridge from where you want to work?
...can you use a roof ladder?
EDIT: After re-reading your post, I can see you have no access to the ridge... oh well...

Rex_Mundi unfortunately I cant use anything like that as there is no wall on the left handside of the porch. Neither would we be able to afford to buy one of these platforms but thanks anyway"The time is always right to do what is right"0

Can you not put the ladder from the ground up over the porch to the wall of the house just below the gutters ….the ladder won’t be on a perfect angle but if you get someone to stand on the bottom of it, it will stop it from slipping. Granted this is not an ideal solution but this is what I used to do in my other house that had a porch.0

uncle_buck not sure about using the ladder because of the angle it would be at to get over the porch but I will investigate it more thanks"The time is always right to do what is right"0
