B&Q Bathrooms - Can I haggle in-store?

A plumbers merchant will bite your hand off for that size order atm. You will surely get a good deal and at the same time establish an embrionic relationship which which assist your brother for the future. Shop around too.

Superb, thank you! I will work my way through the list and look for local showrooms.I have a day off on Friday and have pencilled in bathroom shopping with my brother. I'll be picking what looks nice, he can ask the technical questions. That and he's got the front to ask for big discounts, unlike me!
Keystone - The order was going to cost that much. Now I'm finding cheaper shops it might not be.We are re-fitting:
1) Main bathroom (bath, sink and loo, adding a shower over the bath which it doesn't currently have)
2) En-suite (shower cubicle, sink and loo)
3) Downstairs cloakroom (loo and sink)
After measuring up, we worked out we need to get 20 sq. metres of wall tiles and 7 sq. metres of floor tiles. (That does include an extra 12-13% rather than 10% as there's lots of awkward shapes and odd little bits of wall, so hopefully we can return a reasonable amount). I won't be trying to put those in the boot of my Astra in one go. :rotfl:
We only moved in to our house last Tuesday. Bathrooms were at the top of the list to get done, but have been made somewhat more urgent by the fact the one shower in the house is absolutely pathetic. My husband said he could wee harder.0 -

Hi...take a look at the Twyford Hydr8 shower enclosures (the OH fit the 1000 x 1000 mm for my very fussy MIL last summer with an Aqualisa Quartz Digital shower) or a value for money option, the Twyford Geo range. Try Bristan for basin taps and the Mira Element EV themostatic shower mixer (on offer at PTS this month and next)....usually can't go wrong with the name brands.;)

i would look at the plumbing merchant websites
city plumbing
PTS
find what bathroom you like find the cheapest price and go back to the merchant and say if you can give it to me cheaper i will have it. if they say they cant then haggle with the online companies.0 -

B&Q do have a sale on, so I have looked at the ranges that are included. Do you think they're worth it at half price, or are there too many issues? I've read bad reviews on the B&Q site of some of the products, and have also found comments online regarding the time B&Q take to deliver (sometimes substantially longer than their quoted 2 weeks).
Put it this way. I've had one fine delivery from them and one that didn't turn up at all. After two months I cancelled the order!
I swear by Bristan taps. And I'll admit to liking Bathstorealthough I had a very nice Ideal Standard bathroom once.

Thanks again all. It was a Mira mixer shower we'd picked out for our en-suite (not the model you mentioned canucklehead - it was one with a fixed overhead shower and a separate diverter handheld). For the main bathroom it'll be a cheaper mixer shower as it won't get used anywhere near as much.
doozergirl - I was looking at Ideal Standard online yesterday, and a bathroom shop near home stocks them so I'll have a look at those.
Another independent kitchen and bathroom shop in town stocks Balterley Bathrooms, but I couldn't find much about them online and they weren't on the list of recommended manufacturers provided earlier.0
