Ive just checked on amazon and they won't let me return my faulty PS3 which cost me £250! I brought in in December 2009 so its within 12 months however they're saying 31st Jan 2010 was the cut off.
It's effectively useless now as it won't read any games or blu rays.
Im pretty sure this isn't right and going to Sony is going to be time consuming and expensive, is there anything I can do or say to make amazon accept responsibility? Or am I wasting my time and should I just got straight to Sony?
Any help/advice welcome

Why is sending it to Sony goinf to be time consuming and expensive?
I have found Sony very efficient at dealing with warranty claims. If you send it via Amazon it just adds another layer.0 -

nah dont believe they said it either, i think wires have got crossed somewhere
OP going via sony shouldnt be a long process, it can go 2 ways,
1
you send your console to amazon who send it to sony then be fixed then sent back to amazon who send to you,
or you will send it to amazon who send you a new 1 once its been testedand found to be faulty amazon will send a replacement
or 2
you send it to sony who test it, fix it and send it back to you0 -
With PS3's Sony will send you a refurb, should look like new though.0

Wow, ive never had a bad experience with Amazon, and they certainley would not have said that.
As said above phone them- 0800 496 108, its a bit strange when you do, as every time I have called them you get sent to an American call centre.
I know they have an joint agreement with Sony to deal with faulty products. They will arrange for it to be collected and get it repaired.
For me when my Sony Vaio laptop broke, I sent it to them, and within four days they told me it would take 6 weeks to repair, which as it was essential for work, they agreed to give me a refund, and this was 11 months after I had bought it which I was very pleased with!
Good luck!0 -
In before sirmarcusSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Phone Sony; my brothers PS3 did the same thing and he phoned them on a Tuesday afternoon and on the Thursday morning someone knocked on the door with a refurbished PS3! Even a copy of the game that was stuck in the PS3 was sent the following week."The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money"0
