They don't take very long so I would say about September for them to start coming through. Muscari look good too and they look lovely even without the flowers on them!

  • Sorry to hijack your thread but i had a basket last winter and put it into the garage after it flowered and died down, i noticed last week that it had started to grow again and the stems were about 2-3 inches long but very pale, should i bring it out of the garage now and start to water it or leave it were it is for a little while longer?
My mind tends to wander............If found please return;)

    I can spell...................I just cant type:confused:

Plant them in the garden. they will do no good if left in the basket again.

I'm thinking of growing some Christmas bulbs too

I've heard that you need to plant the bulbs in special bulb compost, is this necessary? I'm sure we grew them in normal compost/soil as kids?

Also can anyone recommend good places for buying bulbs, especially amaryllis?

    Thanks

J parker bulbs are doing some good offers on bulbs. £1.75 for 100 muscari for example. But also poundland have their autumn planting bulbs in now too. So good to get them if you can. I use ordinary compost and they seem to do well. If you think hyacinths can grow only in a vase of water.
