Advice on terms and conditions

Hi, I run a small business providing admin support to individuals and businesses and I need some help with revising my terms and conditions. I do have some on my website that I drafted when I first set up 6 months ago, but they seem very weak now I am revisiting them! I havent felt the need to give written copies to my clients so far as everyone I work with is a friend, or a friend of a friend.
However, I have one client who sometimes schedules me to work for them on a particular day then they decide at quite short notice that they dont need me because they have changed their plans - once it was even on the day. Whilst I fully understand that part of what Im offering is flexibility I think there should be a minimum amount of notice given or I could charge a cancellation fee.
So I am thinking of putting it in my T&C's that if bookings are cancelled with less than 48 hours notice I reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee.
Im not sure what to say I could charge as I dont want to scare them off so Im thinking of just an hours fee for a half day cancellation and 2 hours fee for a full day cancellation.
I am going to get my T&C's reviewed by a solicitor but I want to go to them with a draft first.
Any views on this please?

I'm sure if you simply explain to your solicitor what you have done here, he'll be able to draft you something suitable
(or explain why he can't)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
