Egg Not Wanting To Provide Me With a SAR

Hi - Looking for some more advice. I sent a SAR off to Egg remembering to enclose £10 (2 settled loans, 1 ongoing and 1 settled and closed Credit Card). Egg have written to me today essentially to let me know that they will not be providing me with copies of any of my agreements stating "the right to be provided with this information from Egg Banking plc ended with the closure of this account". They have sent 4 separate letters in the same envelope with regard to the accounts that I listed on the SAR. I'm not sure how I pursue this now, or whether it is worth pursuing. Any advice would be gratefully received.

    Hi Anna

    That is so annoying!!

How long ago was this account running, and is it still active?

You can ask the Information Commissioners office (ICO) for advice on this one here:
    https://www.ico.gov.uk/Global/contact_us.aspx

    http://www.ico.gov.uk/what_we_cover/data_protection.aspx

    Did they return your payment?

    Hi Di,

The current loan doesn't have PPI on it therefore I still should be able to see what information they have on me? The loans and card were from 2003 onwards. They haven't cashed the cheque nor have they returned it. Abbey Loans (Santander) did the same thing, returned the cheque for £1 (for a copy of the credit agreement) stating "no such account" then as soon as I sent a copy of the questionnaire they 'miraculously' found it. Makes me wonder if they know what they are doing?

    Hi Anna

Something quite not right with it is it?

    It does make us wonder.

I would contact the ICO though for advice on this if I were you, see what they advise.;)

Thanks Di, I may just send a further stroppy letter to Egg and see what their response is. They are obliged to send what info they have on me under the Data Protection Act. They have been the worst so far. The muppets.

There are two options. You can either take the complaint to the ICO or you can write back, thanking them for returning the fee but politely reminding them that they have forty working days from receipt of the request and the cheque to respond in accordance with section 7 of the Data Protection Act 1998 and failure to do so will result in a complaint to the information commissioner.

If you do the latter, tell them you are taking the date of receipt as two working days after the request was sent.
