Turtle dirt stopper mats

Like to get one of these large size mats for my kitchen BUT they all seem to be plain colours or available on Turtles own site at very high prices. Is there a comparable dirt stopper mat please in nice designs.

Ive looked at ones like jml and they have dreadful reviews.

I have a turtle and it is brilliant - o.k it is quite a boring blue colour and it was expensive but it saves so much dirt coming onto the hallway carpet its worth every penny. Quick occasional wash in the machine and its like new.

May have to bite the bullet, pay the money and get the least boring colour you can find!

Ive just found this place by doing an awful lot of googling and ordered one from them. P and P is high but overall about a third of the price of Turtle. Hope its ok.

I bought a cheap version of a turtle mat at a garden show and as soon as i washed it as per instructions it went fluffy and no longer looks as nice (now looks a bit more like a bath mat) and find it sheds quite a lot when hoovered/washed, it does a reasonable job as a door mat. It was cheap so kinda got what i paid for, but i think if i was getting a larger one i'd now be more tempted to consider the original.

Found this site that sells turtle type mats with similar guarantees, perhaps see if there any reviews about.

They are expensive, but definitely worth the money (IMO). They really do trap dirt, and come up like new when you wash them.

But its over £60 for the size mat I need for the kitchen french doors  This other company say its the same stuff and with the rather expensive p and p (to keep it flat apparently) works out £22 for the size 5 ft x 3 ft I need. Ill let you all know if its any good once it comes. Im sick of the big fat coir one at those doors, bits of straw everywhere and so heavy that I tend to hoover round it rather than under it!

We had these, they were great.
Unfortunately Storm thinks they taste great also!

  • Hi,I have bought patterned turtle mats from Lakeland online before, this was a couple of years ago, but I think they still have them. I have seen the stands at shows like Crufts etc, where they usually offer a 10% discount.

They are worth paying the extra for though!! Have tried loads of others they cant seem to compete.

I have also got an original Turtle mat and am very happy with it (had it for around 5 years now). It washes beautifully and still looks as good as new.

My friend brought back loads of similar mats from the USA but has now replaced them all with the Turtle mats as they just didn't compare :(.

Perhaps it would be worth saving up for a bit longer and investing in one. Also, just as a note of caution, if you buy one too big will it fit in the washing machine? Would two smaller ones be suitable?

Thanks frug, but I need a wide one to cover all possibilities of OH and dogs as they come in the french doors :) They should get caught if I have the one that goes right across both doors. The site says they can be hosed down in the garden. (the mat that is :))

Hmm, it's been a while since I bought my Turtle mats, but I am sure I bought at least one on Ebay and it was cheaper than direct from the company. I too have had cheaper imitations before, but the real things are GREAT and money well spent.
