I may be out of my depth here with this discussion as i don't know anything about international money transfers and at the risk of sounding foolish, but is it not possible to set up a standing order with your santander account to pay a regular amount on a monthly basis to whoever you want,in your case, your thai bank account.

Nat West offers this service but I don't think Abbey's/ Santander UK's international payments system is upto it tbh.

Hi and thanks for the comment. The payment I am going to receive into my Santander account should be paid with in the first 3 days of the beginning each Month, but knowing the payee it could become some what erratic and the payments be a little late, so making a fixed standing order to transfer an amount out of my account on a Specific date each Month may not work .

This is why I was hoping to have control of when I wanted to arrange an online transfer ( when I knew the payment had been paid into my Santander account ) .

It looks now the only way is to use my Santander credit card and withdraw the amounts from a Thai ATM . :(

Do you mean debit card? Otherwise I fear you will get slaughtered on charges.

Definitely, and the charges will kick in immediately, not after the usual 56 (?) days on credit cards.

This is so frustrating for you, I can only assume that Santander's computerised international payments system is so poor that a lot of the authentication has to be done "manually" .
