and if you send via RM and the seller denies receipt?

then its been lost in the post so i claim with royal mail for upto £41.
A laptop for under £41, have i read that wrong?

its not actually a laptop but a WinCe netbook, and its not under £41 but i won the auction for not much more, so is it really worth the extra money to send it back via fedex when all im getting is the original payment refunded not the returned postage

And as you say, you're quite good with technician stuff.
Have you sent it on a slow boat?

I would contact ebay (phone them), and you should get a refund direct off them. I doubt they will want it to be resold. If not threaten to go the local paper/watchdog, they will not want even more bad press about dodgy goods.

    how is it dodgy?
the buyer(i assume) bought from China because of the cheap purchase price
the seller in China would just be dumping it given they buy them for pennies

Are you sure you have posted your reply on the right topic? as if you have it doesn't make sense. As i bought the item from china so can hardly go to the local paper to give bad press about a company bases thousands of miles away from me. Ebay is just the website that i have purchased the item on, ebay don't sell items directly so they are hardly going to give me a refund out of their own pocket.

Im just going to return it in two shipments, the netbook in one parcel just under 2kg and the charger in the other as this will only be about £15 and covers me for upto £41 with royalmail as long as i have proof of postage. its not worth paying £30 to send it Fedex as i only paid £49 for it in the first place.

No, I remember seeing another thread about a buyer getting a courtesy refund due to faulty goods.

you think eBay does that for every buyer now?
so no need to return any goods anymore?

perhaps they may do this if it was a case where a seller suddenly closed their account and did a runner with all the money and had sent out a load of duff goods but ill doubt they will do it for just one item where the seller is willing to refund if you return the goods to them.

I realised it was a risk buying items from China but ive done it before without problem, so although ill be £15 out of pocket on this item by the time ive sent it back ive saved more than that in other purchases ive bought from China rather than from a UK seller before. And i can understand they ask for the item back rather than just refund on my word that its faulty as i would do the same.
