Cheque deposits into LTSB

The Lloyds regular saver can be opened with a cheque amount can it not? Is this advantagous because of the way LTSB treat cheques - or have I mixed them up with Barclays?

Thanks

On personal cheques of under £1000 they will pay interest from the day the cheque is deposited. Other banks will not pay interest until the funds have cleared, which usually takes 3 to 4 days,
