Tomatoes and Sugar Snap Peas
We bought 1 of each plant in the spring and have enjoyed picking them for most of the summer and actually eating them raw. They are still producing but not so much now.
My question is, do I throw away the plants and the end of the season or can I do anything with them such as cut them down for the winter or even grow new plants from the peas in the pods.
This may sound a silly question to those more experienced than me but I am new to this.
My second question is about my tomatoes. We made a batch of green tomato chutney yesterday and it is delicious. I now have one or 2 ripe tomatoes but I am a little disappointed as, although they look good, they are a little mushy. Is there a reason for this because I was going to dry some of the seeds over the winter for use next year but there is no point if they are not going to taste so good.

Sorry, the way I wrote this post will be confusing. I meant that we have of of each plant being sugar snap peas and manges tout. The tomato question is separate.0

You could grow new plants from the pea seeds, however if I understand your posts correctly you have both mange tout & sugar snap peas growing. These may well have been cross pollinated by bees, so any resulting plants from seed will be some sort of hybrid
This may be even more mixed up as you bought plants, so I assume you have no idea whether these were an F1 hybrid to start with
Possibly worth a gamble, but TBH I woul go to Wilikinsons and buy some named pea seeds, currently 75% off
The same applies to your tomatoes, you have no idea of the variety, get some named seed going cheap and grow your own for flavour, no doubt many here will suggest a very tasty tom, may I start with Gardeners Delight?
It does depend what you want from a tom, if pretty for salads, use for sauce, large beefsteak type? Red, yellow, blackish? Plum, cherry or bog standard round shaped? When an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0 -
