If you have formatted and still get bombarded with nasties it must be something you are installing after installing 2000.

Do you keep your 2000 running upto date with patches etc?

maybe you should be examining the websites you visit

and then make sure you have a decent firewall, and a virus scanner that will catch things as you surf the web

goto https://www.windowsupdate.com and make sure you get service pack 4 and all the updates.

The get windows defender a great free app for stoping spyware.

    http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/default.mspx

Then grab a free antivirus software like avg.

Your best of formatting and starting again if you have a lot of spyware and viruses already and just vist these sites and get your pc completly upto date and virus protected the best you can before you go out there into the big wide world.

Otherwise you get problems like you are doing now.

You also need a free firewall like Zonealarm or Sygate. as you already have ewido (it is up to date BTW), it's unlikely you need adaware or spybot.

When you reinstalled Windows did you also reload your files - if so you are probably also reloading the scumware and so the cycle continues
  • thank you all for your help, much apreciated :D

Stop wasting your time and buy yourself a legitimate copy of Windows.

You can get XP Home for under £60 from eBuyer.co.uk

You just beat me to the keyboard, matey!! My thoughts exactly.

lil_chooa ... you are going to have so much trouble with an invalid copy of W2000 that there's no point in any of us spending time trying to fix you up. You are only going to become infected again.
