There's going to be trouble ahead.......

http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/193280/Speed-camera-sell-off-fury

Possible sell off of speed scameras to the private sector.

Mick Giannasi, head of roads policing at the Association of Chief Police Officers, proposes that the issuing of tickets and collection of fines should be “outsourced”. Is that bloke thick? Imagine the trouble the ordinary motorist is going to have if a private company gets on their backs with a speeding ticket?

ACPO should be banned and disbanded asap. Nothing but a money making organisation.

You couldn't make it up. I wonder if the private companies, if this happens, are prepared to pay out thousands of pounds everytime one of those things is vandalised.

Some lovely browsing of some nice photo's there. They should be placed outside schools and the like not on blind bends on country roads, behind bridges or hidden behind signs.

It will only get worse with the vandalism if this does go into private hands. They would not be able to afford to buy new ones at the rate they would be attacked. Time will tell.

  • So, reading this along with today's Telegraph article about clampers, we get:

    Private clamping made illegal.
    Speed enforcement privatised.

    Followed perhaps by............

Unemployed clampers buy a fleet of scamera vans.

It could only happen in this country.
  • ACPO is a self-serving cartel. I suppose they would receive a kickback in the interests of 'safety'
Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!

Yes, they're a private limited company, Company Number: 3344583 whos staff have used their political influence to obtain unbeleivable access to data that any other PLC would be refused access to, whilst earning millions by doing so.

    Whole thing stinks.

Give them a chance, it takes a while to untangle the mess the last lot left.

It took a while for the last lot to try and sort the mess left by the others , they are all the same imo, just get in power blame the last lot for all the problems, then make a pigs ear out of it themselves, I give the coalition 2 years before it falls apart, then the last lot will get in again, and they will blame all on the ones they replaced ;)
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Come on, this is typical tory policy. Remember the 3 R's. The tories favour the 3 P's

You may well be right but it does not change the fact that ACPO's power started to come to the fore during Blairs reign. They seem to believe that their old boys club is aan arm of the government. The sooner they lose their semi official status the better.

They will be coming under the Freedom Of Information Act soon enough.

This further entrenches them in my opinion.

Their data dealings leave a sour taste in the mouth I must say.
