Skanes - Tunisia

My partner and I are looking at booking a holiday for Aug next year. I have seen a good offer on an all inclusive package to Skanes, Tunisia, we get two child free places between us and although it goes above our original budget I think it will be worth it for AI.
The hotel is the Iberostar Sahara beach, its massive and seeme to have loads to do onsite and is right on the beach, but what is there in Skanes to do and is is suitable for kids (we have 4)
What are other things to do in that area of Tusnisia?
Thanks
Sarah

Hi!
Got back from Skanes/Monastir last week! Skanes has a big madina, Port El Kantoui is quite nice, Monastir - not a lot there except the ex-president house.
For kids there's not a great deal really, there is an aqua park in PEK. Most things are hotel based as far as I can tell. Hammament might have more things being purpose built.

I've been to that hotel, though a few years back. It is a huge hotel and it was full the first week we were there and felt it - we struggled to find a space in the gardens. the second week it thinned out a bit & we were quite comfortable. It is very dated, the rooms are tiny & its all very 70s style! the all inclusive was quite poor, small cups & only two per person. The entertainment was quite french orientated (tunisia is a french speaking country) but reasonable. Food was good - being such a large hotel they could offer a lot of choice - you could always find something to eat & the pizzas during the day were good!
An OK holiday in all - I wouldnt go back as the people were quite rude outside of the hotel, the weather was suprisingly poor (a lot of cloud and two storms) and the flies were annoying!!0 -
I wouldn't go back to Tunisia if you paid me. I didn't like the attitude that a lot of men (I didn't see hardly any women) had towards western women.:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0
