Mico DiVX DVD player in Saisburys £39.99

Options
Our local branch of sainsburys (Watchmoor Park - J4, M3) is selling the Mico 808D DiVX DVD player for £39.99. There was plenty of stock when I bought one yesterday.

I had heard of other branches seling it for 29.99 but this would appear to be the Mico 808 (no 'D') which does not handle DiVX and is also a refurbished model.

This is a standard DVD player, but DiVX playback allows some files downloaded from the internet to be played (when burnt to a CD) to your tv rather than being limited to the computer.

DivX will become more significant when the DVD recorders which support DivX encoding become available (next few months probably - a chipset is already in production) as you'l be able to fit much more on a recordable DVD.

You still get problems with divx using various options of divx like qpel, gmc, bvop etc.

Some of the latest players support qpel but many dont support the extras features so be warned.

No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you

the main advantage of divx is that they are much smaller file sizes than 'normal' dvds. This is because they are compressed without too much of a quality loss. Videos found on the net are usually encoded in divx or xvid because they take up less space on the net and a whole movie can fit on a 700mb disc. You can also make you own divx with programs such as Dr Divx which has the ability to convert large mpegs to smaller divx format.
