travel insurance cancellation

My family and I are going to Spain in 7 weeks, and I havent arranged my travel insurance as yet. I am a bit concerned about my mother who has recently fallen very ill with a rare liver disorder. I dont know which way it is going to go now, and when I have read the policies they confuse me as they all sound so conflicting. Can anyone recommend or have knowledge of someone who can cover us if we have to cancel the holiday due to my mother being seriously ill or worse. I dont mind paying a higher premium.

Thanks

Speak to a specialist company for pre existing medical conditions and see if they can help in any way (eg.http://www.the-insurance-surgery.co.uk/illness/liver_disease/insurance.php)

I can never understand why people dont take out travel insurance the minute they have finished booking their holiday
They seem to think its okay just to insure from the day the holiday begins. It doesnt, it starts from the moment you book as
    you have found out.
There are so many people on here with the same question.

Its not likely you will find any but I wish you luck in the meantime.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • How completely obnoxious is your response, and what a horrible spiteful person you are. I booked my holiday a month ago, not 6 months ago, and I go away in 2 months. My mother's health issues were unknown 4 months ago but are now finally being diagnosed and dont know which way it is going to go. I didn't write my post for a dressing down from YOU, so as per your comment 'as I have now found out' you mean serves me right is just insensitive. Your response was of no use whatsoever.

You don't like the message, but why turn on the messenger?

You do need travel insurance from the moment you book the trip - not just in case a medical condition of a non travelling relative could deteriorate, but anyone travelling could get injured on the day the trip was booked, meaning they cannot travel - and cancellation fees are steep!
