can a 16 year old drive if parent disabled?

or is it the 16 year old has to be the disabled person.

I read something somewhere that a 16 year old can drive a can in certain circumstances, but i can't remember if it was if parent is disabled or if the 16 year old is disabled....

anyone?

A 16 year old can only drive a car if they receive DLA HRM.

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/WhatCanYouDriveAndYourObligations/DG_4022547 gives more ifnormation about being 16 and driving.

shame that he cant drive you, just thought i would say that if he was to become your driver at 17 and be on the insurence then he can get 40 hours of driving lessons payed for just not licence, or either tests this is thought motibitly too

thanks for that, it's worth bearing in mind.

DS is only 15 and a half but something to think of in the future if i don't get my licence back, or backup if i am having a bad day and need to be taken anywhere but not well enough to drive :T

The motability website inplies it's only the disabled persn who can get this:
Driving Lessons: if aged between 16 and 24, and in receipt of the Higher Rate Mobility Component, you may be eligible for help towards the cost of driving lessons.
