Hi

It is a small tree or a large bush probably about 7-8ft tall has bright yellow flowers about 5" and smells divine..you can smell it before you see it and at the moment it has seeds next to the flowers and they look like bean/ pea pods.

Could be laburnum. The seeds are poisonous.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Your post reads like you are posting a photo but there isn't one!
It's really hard to identify a plant from a brief description - in this sort of case a picture really is worth a thousand words.

from the sounds of it though i would agree with 365 days but it is difficult to tell without a piccie:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

Could be quite a few things. Laburnums aren't known for their fragrant flowers. It would have also flowered in the spring. The pea-like pods makes it sound like a legume (which the laburnum is). Yellow fragrant flowers in summer? Probably a cytisus - but really need a photo. Random guess - cytisus battandieri?0

Another random guess is tulip tree but dunno about the pods bit. Need piccy! Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

My first thought is Genista Hispanica, Spanish broom.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Cytisus Battandieri? (Pineapple Broom) perhaps?
If the leaves are a 3 lobed and a soft silvery green then could be this.Greyer by the minute - Older by the hour - Wiser by the day0 -
Hi
Thanks for all the replies.
Yes I ought to post a picture but I haven't taken one yet as I was cycling.
None of your suggestions are correct yet
Another clue the scent reminds me of expensive perfumed soap but again I have not a clue which one.
I will try and take a picture and post it soon
Thanks so far

Tree lupin (lupinus arboreus)? You say the flower is 5 inches. Do you mean each individual flower, like a rose, or each stem of flowers, like a lilac? If I'm over the hill, where was the top?0
