• My (suburban) area is planted with hedges that, if not cut back, produce small plums that look like this - some of the bushes are yellow and some red. Neither greatly tasty though :(

ive never known what they are but make jam from them when i can find them-have made some this year

found lots of trees with the yellow fruit ripe but not the red ones so plan on going back when next in that area to see if they are ripe then

think this seems an exceptional year for these fruits i remember it being like this about 12 years ago

Yes, I would say some variety of cherry plums. :D
I found a yellow cherry plum tree the other day and have just made 3 jars of jam. Yours do seem to have a slightly greener tinge...but there is a big range of colours...I've also found a tree with some which are turning purplish...but they're not ripe yet...

Hi Kateandpete

I've moved this to the greenfingered board to see if you can get some other suggestions or help

Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

thanks
