Black dots on washing machine door seal

I have a Zanussi washer dryer (about 3 years old) and the door seal is accumulating "black dots" which seem to be very hard to shift. We use non-bio powders. Anyone know why these are building up and how best to remove them ?

  • You should not close the door on washing machines or tumble driers when not in use as the rubber seal starts to rot, the black dot's are probably the first signs of rot.

Leave the door ajar and the problem will go away.

If you have young kids then you better close the doors and be prepared to get a new seal every now and again.

I also have a Zanussi washer dryer , seems to be going a bit brown like burn marks on rubber seal but i always close the door :(
  • It's mould - we give our washer a monthly service clean including door seal a spray with a bleach based cleaner (Dettol - Mould and Mildew remover) leave overnight and then service wash next day at 60C - bio detergent. This keeps machine and door seal clean and clear of mould!
I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!
