Norton cutting connection?

My Norton Internet Security seems to have developed an odd habit. Whenever I send large photographs as email attachments, the scan cuts off at around 99% (latterly less, 41% in one case) and advises me that the link with my ISP mail system (Virgin) has been cut and that I should resend. I just disabled the Norton and an email of the type mentioned, which would not go through the system, went through fine. Any ideas on how to correct this niggling problem?

Simply switch off outgoing e-mail scanning. I never scan outgoing e-mail.

I have been trying to do exactly that, but cannot find how to. There seems to be a way to turn off email scanning, but I cannot find how to stop outgoing scanning only. Sorry, could you advise how?

On the Norton Professional edition Options, E-Mail and there are check boxes for Scan Incoming E-Mail and Scan Outgoing E-Mail. Possibly not on all versions.

Thanks. Found it. The Norton was most offended when I turned it off!

  • Odd, I have unticked the box turning off the scanning of outgoing email, but the Symantec scanner is still scanning the outgoing email. What's up?

    Perhaps it needs a re-boot?
