    Can it be extracted? Looks like Sky have locked down Telnet as well according to this thread. Do you know another way to get this info?

    Depends where you read. see here for details. It's obviously not the sort of thing that everyone will want or need to do but it can be done if necessary. Personally I would not want to have various set-up options removed from the Netgear's menus.

    Crippling the router is fine for beginners as it makes it easier to set up and less prone to people fiddling. I agree though Espresso, I would rather have manufacturers firmware than the Sky butchered version.

    Just a little other point. I am on the Easynet LLU just now and because of fluctuating SNR readings I have to Telnet into my Netgear router to change my values to stop it disconnecting. With sky locking Telnet I would have to go back to disconnecting every 10 mins at certain times of the day...

    Looks like this is a complete non starter for me.... Still it might force some price drops
