Best get a travel card for each day (check where the things are that you want to go to, probably all reasonably central so youshould only need a zone 1 - 2 or 3)
Under 11s are free on tubes and busses
Check tfl website:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -

Investigate getting a pay-as-you-go Oyster card - it should work out cheaper than a travel card, and it's easier to use. Just about every underground station can issue you with one, and it takes absolutely no time.
TfL = Transport for London0 -
It`s cheaper and (I think) more fun to go by bus.You get to see a lot more of London than stairs and escalators.A one-day all-zones bus pass is £3.50. Children 16/17 are free now,but you need a photopass and I don`t know if you could get one by Saturday.
Where are you going to be based and where do you want to visit? Someone will be able to help.0 -
I doubt I will be traveling out of zone 2 but will get up to zone 4 just incase. We're not traveling until the 7th of october, I have just looked at the PDF for prices, as I see it I could buy a daily travel card for zones 1-4 for myself for £5.40 and £2 for my daughter ..... is this right ??? Does that mean that me and my daughter can travel anywhere between zones 1 and 4 on that day with no more to pay ???

Why, if you do just pay the excess - or get the bus instead as any travelcard covers ALL TfL bus services0 -
Check for a weekend travelcard (if they still do them) works out cheaper than 1 card per day.0

They do not do weekend travelcards any more. so you will need 2 separate Travelcards at £5.40 per day for zones 1 - 4. You can buy the Travelcards at the smae timre from any agent issuing Travelcards or any Tube Station or LT travel Advice Centre.
With regards to your daughter, if she is 15 or under she will travel for £1 on each day. This was in the January 2006 fare guide but has been missed out of the new one in September 2006. However, you can see it still on the TfL website here . Look at the bottom right on page 9, and the same rule applies to youngerr children as well.
If you want to confirm you can call the 24 hour Info Line on 020 7222 1234. But they have confirmed that the "offer" is still running.
Do not forget that as well as the tube your paper travelcard also covers you in the zones that it is valid for, for travel on National Rail Services as well as the DLR, Trams and Buses.
Have a good time.0 -
thanks Waster, its not going to be as expensive as I first thought.
Much appreciated!MSE:-)MoneySpendingExpert (-:0 -
You don't say how old your daughter is. Up to 4 children under 11 can travel free on the tube weekends and after 9.30am weekdays with a fare paying adult. Children 13 and under travel free on buses and trams. Children 14 or 15 need an Oyster photocard to travel free on buses and trams.
This pdf leaflet gives details of child fares by age if that sounds confusing.
One other thing to mention if you buy a travelcard, it entitles you to unlimited travel on buses anywhere in London (London Buses are not covered by zones).0
