Windows Malicious Software Removal tool

I've had a few security updates recently and amongst them is as per title August 2010 KB890830.

Looking at my Windows update log today I see it was successfully installed on Wed 11th Aug but has now been installed successfully a further 12 times. Every time I've logged on over the past few days I've noticed the little yellow shield saying that updates are ready to be installed so have clicked to install but not taken that much notice of what was being installed until today.

Anyone know why this is happening?

    as a start

i suggest you watch it go through installation and see if you get the "successful" message. If you are poering off the computer you may be defeating the "instal before power-down" routine.
    regards
