when i put my comp on the lcd screen lights up intitally then goes black.. really confused can anyone help

Even though the screen goes blank is the computer still running? Is it a laptop?0

Connect the main plug with the socket for electricity.
If it still doesn't work then turn the switch on next to the socket

hi it is a pc i have and it is still running but after the intial hp screen it goes dark, really frustrating!
i dont know if this will help but i recently had vista wiped from it and had xp put on, it was running like a wee dream then it suddenly done this.
i am not sure about shortcuts on keyboard.0 -
suspect its the screen not the PC , have you another screen you can try on it (or borrow a friends for an hour)Ex forum ambassador
