.... is it right that if you pre-plan five christmases in a row, you can have the 6th one off, scott-free ? just think, in twenty years time, we'll have four LOVELY christmases, just like they should be ! mmm...

Christmas? its sorted. No longer go racing tround shops for pressies, we agreed years ago not to give presents to the chidlren, the grandchildren all get money, they can spend it on what they want with the exception od DS2's children, I give him the monet for them and he puts it towrds clothes or shoes for them. They keep a set of clothes at DS2's their mother never sends them with a change of clothes, so he makes them change into fresh clothes when they get to him, he washes them and they put them on clean to go home. Heaven knows how he is coping this week, he has them for a week!!

Food shopping: we decide what we are having for our main Christmas meal, usually beef, and I but a large piece when its on offer and freeze it. we have smoked salmon and rocket salad for lunch, so the salmosn goes in the freezer. I just have to get any veg we need, bottle of white and a bottle of red wine, bucks fizz, a cheese board and a pork pie. Thats us catered for!!

OH likes a raspberry trifle rather than christmas pudd, so I freeze fresh raps when we pick them, any left over get used during the year, or if I have a lot for jam. As we moved earlier this year we only have 3 raspberry bushes, but they have done very well, we have a bag full in the freezer and have been eating fresh ones for dessert all this week.

I make my own Christmas cards on the machine just for family and special friends, anyone who is on the internet gets an internet card and thats it. We used to send out 200 cards every year......forget that, the postage alone would be over £100....that 3/4rs of my food budget for a month!!
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

Do you mind posting the recipe for the freezer cookies please? Sounds like they could be very useful for preparing in advance and the flavour variations sound lovely!

    Thanks :j

It's a fairly basic sugar cookie recipe which can be frozen raw. I will try to remember to get it out of the cookery book tonight, or in the next few days. But I DO know that it's the same recipe for all, just changing what you add into it.
