Sky Cancellation - Can anyone help me please?

Hello

I'm very new to MSE and would very much appreciate if someone could help me please. I have been looking for ways to save money to fund my son's impending school trip - as a result I have just contacted Sky to cancel my subscription (thinking I would be offered a better deal therefore saving money) and unfortunately they have cancelled my account, no questions.
Now, I realise that Sky is not one of lives necessities, however to put you in the picture I have cut back on as much as I can in other areas and Sky is my family's only real luxury.....the question I have is..... can I call back and say I've changed my mind or have I blown it - with the result of devastating my 2 kids:sad: I know this sounds a bit OTT!!
P.S Lesson learned - never try to call anyone's bluff unless I REALLY mean it:doh:

MND - Let's go for 2020 'cos it's got a nice ring to it:D

  • I would try ringing them again and say you've changed your mind. Use freephone number here:

but be prepared for a long wait. Also your 'Freesky' will still work for the free channels.

    Alternatively you could try Freeview.

This happened to me. I read on here everyone calls their bluff but like you they took my cancellation. I just waited a couple of weeks then phoned up to get it back on.

Thank you both - Can I ask littlereddevil, did you manage to get back on without having to pay any charge?

With regard to Freeview Black-Saturn, I know this would be the sensible option however we have (I'm ashamed to say) got very used to Sky+.....the shame of it!!:embarasse

    Thank you again though

  • As Sky are now providing broadband I would try phoning them back and ask what sort of combined offers are available to you if you "go back" to Sky :)
  • You can get hard drive recorders that work with Freeview. They aren't nearly as fancy as Sky+, but (as you would expect from Freeview) they don't require a monthly subscription.

Thank you for your replies......I contacted Sky last night and said I'd changed my mind (sap!) and was immediately offered 3 months half price - whayhay!!
So......thanks to this site, I am going to place the 'saving' directly into an account towards my son's school trip (rather than spend on something daft which I would have done prior to discovering MSE)
Take care all of you and thanks again for the advice  xxx
