Talk Talk - think I have made a mistake...

I have just switched from BT to Talk Talk for my phone provider as they said I could have free broadband. I checked my postcode and telephone number before ordering as I had problems last year getting broadband.
My phone switch in July went ok, but my first two bills were a lot more than I expected due to proportioned line rental.
I have just tried to check the progress of the broadband switch, as they estimated the end of September. If I enter my e-mail details on the tracting system, it states it will go live by the end of September. However, when I try via my phone number and postcode, It now says that they are unable to provide me with broadband as the number is awaiting provisioning.
What can I do now? I do not use landline phone enough to justify the price I am paying without the inclusion of broadband.
Thanks for your help.

Your not the only unhappy customer lots of threads littered all over this site.
Have a look at thread below which might put you off even more.Look at post 70 by Fagun
"Yippee - I've now got Broadband. 18 days after complaining to Charles Dunstone, and 2 weeks exactly from the date I finally got a compensation offer agreed with them (they wouldn't process the order until then). If you still have problems getting connected but want to stick with TT, then I suggest you e-mail Charles Dunstone at DunstoC@cpwplc.com."
Perhaps if you did, what he did you will get the service.

It may mean that are awaiting to transfer you over from BT's equipment to their own.clareski wrote:It now says that they are unable to provide me with broadband as the number is awaiting provisioning.
If not, and it definitely means you can't have their free(!) broadband (I'd personally check with them) then you can get out of the minimum term by stating two things:-
(1) you signed up for and was told you could get their free(!) broadband but have been informed you no longer can, at least for the unforseeable future, get their free(!) broadband. Therefore, TT have broken the contract by not supplying you with services that you signed up for and were informed you could get.
(2) Undue delay in supplying you with broadband for which you were expecting and were given a due date. Therefore, TT have broken the contract by not supplying and taking undue delay in supplying the services to which you signed up for.0 -

I think I will cancel now having read the other posts, but not too sure where to go from here.
I need a landline, but dont make many calls (use free calls on mobile).
I need internet connection, but looks like it will have to be dial-up for the time being until someone decides to lay extra telephone lines.
I would like extra TV channels, but don't want to pay full price for Sky.
Please help me!!!!0 -
I'm surprised you've only just found out about how poor TalkTalk is, theyhave been this bad for about 3 years, if they haven't sorted their problems out in this time frame, I can't see them fixing it any time soon.
The cheapest package from Sky is £15 / month, you could get free broadband from them, that is like TalkTalk if they have their equipment in your exchange.
I think Sky are still giving half price for the first 3 months, plus if you go via QuidCo you get cashback.
I'm lucky I'm in a Telewest area, so have broadband from them, with free starter TV package, no phoneline as I use VoIP and with cable you don't need a phoneline for broadband. I also have satellite, just the 100+ free channels, as well as Freeview. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
