Amilucky - My heart is broken for you - I realised that your wife had dementia from some of your postings (the wandering ones being the most obvious). Please contact your local health board/social work ASAP to get as much help in place as soon as possible. Living with someone with dementia is a great strain as they tend to get up at the middle of the night & leave the house a lot & you need to be able to have some rest yourself so that you can provide as much support for your lovely wife as possible.
You will have some sort of local support group who will be able to 'foster' your dog. This may be just someone taking her for walks or taking her overnight a few times a week to give you some space. She will prove invaluable companionship to you in the difficult times ahead so try to keep her with you if possible. If you need help tracking down local help for your dog PM me with your area & I will do the phoning/contacting for you & pass you on the details

Many thanks finatra26 for your invaluable advice, help and offers of support which is most appreciated

I have been putting of getting help from social services and carers support for some time now but now maybe the right time to seek advice I will do so on Monday

Amilucky? so sorry to hear about your wife.

My neighbour fosters dogs some of which she has for a very long time. There may be people like her in your area.

Please get help or the worry may make you ill.

AwAmilucky, your post brought tears to my eyes. xxx I feel you are helping your dear wife (and yourself) by talking about it and seeking help. I know it must be really difficult for you both at times. How about...when your wife is having a good day, maybe ask her to write down things (if this is possible) so that when it comes to a day that she may not remember things, it will be written down (if that makes sense).
I agree with finatra about Tina, there is support groups (maybe put an add in the paper) who will tend for Tina so that you dont have to make that difficult decision. On the other hand, (please dont take this the worng way) if Tina is old now & maybe she is suffering and is Tina's way of telling you it's time to let go? :(
I know you love your wife dearly Amilucky and I know you will do what is right, and i'm sure your lovely wife will agree with your decision. xxx

NoName, hope you're feeling well hun. TC xxx
