    Agreed.

Just had a quote for a new shower and tiling - the difference between two quotes is £500+ but the cheaper plumber wouldn't put it in writing. Another dilemma.

I'd get another quote and from someone recommended if possible.

Cheapest is not always best as the job maybe shoddy or they might start to add things on, however that is a huge jump in cost so could be really expensive.

My OH works in the building trade, last year was terrible, he was being undercut considerably and couldn't cover the cost of the materials for the prices some were quoting....but then had lots of phonecalls to go and fix the jobs that these people had done. Always try and get someone recommended.

Thanks for the advice Rainey. Appreciated and I can see what you mean. I could have done with my husband being there as promised but he'd taken off for a walk and was "delayed". Prefer to have things in writing as the plumber could say I'd misheard!

I've known our plumber since we were teenagers! Its great when you really know a trademan. We put respatex up instead of tiles - love it cos theres no grout.

Not wanting to put it in writing would make me a bit suspicious to be honest.
