Is there any reason why you can't just go out and squish 'em?If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

Pick them off.
Then give them to the birds.0 -

Yes.
Chili, garlic with a dash of washing up liquid. Works a treat. The hotter the chili the better.0 -
Well took first advice and pressed ganged the children in to caterpillar capture and disposal carried out with extreme prejudice . I assume we have to do this every other day? to be effective.0

Only if you can't persuade them to do it every day.

The only real solution is to stop the butterflies laying the eggs by putting up netting, maybe a bit late this year but not for next year. I made this mistake my first year on my garden plot, this year I was lucky enough to have a cage bought for me with butterfly netting, which went on my allotment to cover the cabbage, cauli & sprouts.
The cage and netting cost around £40 but money well spent and should last for years to come.
Good luck with the fight

Check the underside of leaves for little clusters of eggs, remove/squash as needed.Norn Iron Club member No 3530

Be careful about using bird scarer as we did this and then no birds ate the caterpillars.
Would agree with all that has been said but you could put the grubs on the bird table.
Don't take the outer leaves off even if they are decimated as they can still off the plant protection and support and they can be cut off when you harvest0
