To be honest, I prefer it when the link is added to the end of the thread at the moment anyway, because if it's PM'ed to Gilla and they're not on for a day, or not on until really late that day, and so it can't be updated in time for people not to miss the first day, it's a real shame, it's less pressure on Gilla to always be around to keep it up to date too.
Whatever happens (and I think we'd all be in agreement that something desperately needs to change!) I think it needs to be well documented, so that everyone knows what's going on and what to do!
One thing I would say is that maybe to people that haven't used the daily/weekly and monthly lists before, it would be very daunting, because they're quite long and even though I use the daily list I'm still not sure of the pattern to posting the new ones.
Although, because I do use the daily list everyday I check the whole list and can see which ones are new by the name because I can remember which ones I've seen before (I also keep my own daily list in a spreadsheet (only the ones I want to enter rather than everything) which helps)
Maybe if the lists were going to be the only way for finding the regulars and for the people that would be new to using them would it be a good idea to put all the new posts at the top of each section so they're easy to find day by day? By section I mean like in the dailies the sci-fi-online, beauty guild, daybreak, etc, then the section with all the general ones at the top.
So it's like:
General
NEW today
OLD three days ago
etc
Daybreak
NEW today
NEW today
OLD yesterday
OLD two days ago
etc
(obviously it would say the name of the competition instead of 'NEW today' etc etc, but everyone would know to check the top of each section for new posts?)
I hope that makes sense?
Once again I really do appreciate the great job Gilla and PPD do keeping the lists up to date for us! :T :T (Although I don't currently use the monthly list because of all the locked threads in the regulars section!)
someone will correct me if im wrong im sure as i may be making asumptions but
the daily thread links get added in order of end date on the whole.
the daybreak/sci fi ones the comps at the bottom are the newest, with the furthest away end date, comps at the top are oldest, which will expire soonest and thus be deleted form the post soonest.
they are grouped together because its easier to enter them all on the one site at once than to go back and forth to it amidst other sites.
personally i think asking gilla (or ppd but i also dont use m onthlies) to add new today etc makes more work. it does take a little time to get the hang of dailies....but its the first place i started comping (after advents) as the 2-300 new posts on maiin every day where way to overwhelming and compared to a whole board full the 20odd comps linked in the daily thread was doable LOL it is easy to spot new comps have been added cause the order of doing them then gets altered which i notice even if i dont notice the new name/title sneaked in there. (used to be i opened gu and dorset cereals in tabs one after the other, then there were a few different comps in between those two for example). i notice when comps have gone, but often cant remember which one has been removed, i just notice the space.
i promise ill shut up and quit boring everyone now and go and find that othe rpeople have said the same thing much more concisely.0 -

as many as i can fit into whatever time i have available for doing so.
today that has been none, yesterday i only got to enter those i desperatly wnat to win that ended today, other times i get through to or 3 end dates ina day.
there are many people who keep up with and enter the majority of new comps posted on here each day, and thats never less than 100 on a slow day.0 -

I didn't mean to actually add the words new today etc and change it everyday, the new today was just to indicate the order in the list as being the newest at the top as an example, that's why I wrote(obviously it would say the name of the competition instead of 'NEW today' etc etc, but everyone would know to check the top of each section for new posts?)
I think a lot of people add the links from the dailies into a folder in their browser bookmarks (just going on past comments from around the site), so they only have the ones they want to enter? I know I do this too because it's easier than going through and entering them all from the list everyday and if the forum is down I've already got the links direct to the competitions so I'm not stuck not being able to do them until it comes back.0 -

Wow, that is alot of competitions!!
I started entering competitions on Wednesday of last week and I've entered over 200 so far, however I have been cutting back a lot to enter the competitions of things I really want as opposed to things I don't want. Would be nice if everyone won what they really wanted I think xxEleventh Heaven No 2508:- 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11.

I know what you mean about the grouped ones like sci-fi-online, daybreak etc being in order of end date now (had a good look last night rather than a quick scout through to see if any new ones, or ones I forgot to add to my own list before) it's the others I'm not so sure of, theres a huge number of single competitions (mostly at the top, but some below in between the other groups) and I'm not sure as to the order of those as the end dates are not in order and although most of the new ones go quite near to the top there are exceptions, it's probably just me not seeing the pattern, so was wondering if anyone else could enlighten meI didn't want to bother Gilla as she probably gets a lot of PM's as it is and I don't want her to think I'm ungrateful, I'm just thinking now that maybe I'm missing something that could save some time everyday!

Anyone else finding the site impossibly slow this morning? It's taking ages for comp. pages to load and half the time I'm getting an error page up
