hi there
first post on this board, but deffo not mse, but still unsure if this is the best place to ask, so if an FM feel it better moved elsewhere pls feel free
ok, here is the situation - i been clicking thru on links from the comps board and just recently several have been redirecting to some garbled nonsense
[STRIKE]at first i thought this was to do with the skimlinks trial that mse is running[/STRIKE]
edit : actually at first i thought i had been clickjacked because i was unaware of the trial, but when i became aware of the notice, some links may change i put it down to the mse trial
but now i am having the same problem from hotukdeals, com [hukd]
its not all links i click on from either site, only some, so either HUKD is now also trialling skimlinks, or i may have a more serious problem, trouble is i've never found hukd to be very communicative so trying to figure out what they may/may not be doing is prob a complete waste of time
the problem is, i keep getting redirected to www,awin1,com... and the page not loading - i yahoo'd !, sorry i dont google and all the info i could see is that they are an "Affiliate network offering tracking and management solutions for maintaining an affiliate program" but i cant even get to their homepage direct from yahoo, IE loads a page and says done, but its just purely a blank grey page, dont know if its even supposed to be this way or if i've blocked the site sometime before in my IE settings
examples
on this comp thread here when i click the comp link to go to the ryman,co,uk page i end up with
http://www. awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=2807&id=78888&clickref=skim3196X60 2032&p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.habitat.co.uk%2Ffcp%2Fcont ent%2Femail-signup%2Fcontent
instead of a nice - www. habitat.co.uk/fcp/content/email-signup/content
from a hukd post here i end up with
http://www. awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=483&id=47868&clickref=161388323&p=http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=10797699&fh_view_size=10&fh_location=//catal!!!1/en_GB&fh_search=swingball&fh_eds=ß&fh_refview=search&ts=1281726277731&isSearch=true&ecamp=aff-p9-awin-001
instead of a nice short direct link to somewhere on diy,com
i dont like the sound of awin1 at all !! but then again i do want to end up at the clicky intended destination in an easy and painfree manner as possible, im sure others must be able to click on the above 'here' links and follwing the clicky end up direct to intended destination without trouble, so the question is please
what can i do and have got to do to resume normality
thanks
PS - just to add, im not sure what techie info you may need to help me out, but pls just ask and i will try to get wahever it is you need - the basics are - win xp sp2 - ie7 - kis 2010
