PPI reclaiming advice please

Hi all
I downloaded the claiming PPI template and duly filled it out. I sent a copy to HSBC and to the Banking Ombudsman. The letter has come back from the Banking Ombudsman asking why I have left it so long to reclaim and what they should do next?. I was missold PPI for my credit card in 2005 and had numerous trouble after as I became unemployed and was still expected to fork out £100 pm inclusive of £40 useless insurance. I tried to go to HSBC to discuss my money concerns and was told to 'stop spending'. I made numerous complaints to the bank and was just told no. So I left it and was unaware of the PPI claiming until my partner mentioned it to me recently, hence the time lapse. Now my partner is saying go to a NO win No Fee Agency and try that? Anyone had a similar problem? Thanks

As i'm sure others will say, DON'T use any firms, they will take around 25-40% of your winnings.
It's very easy, and as simple as writing ONE letter to get your cash back. There are useful templates on here for you to send off. It's not hard and the lovely people on this forum will help you every step of the way !0 -
When did you send your initial letter away ? You have already done the first step. HSBC have 8 weeks to respond so i would wait to hear their reply.0

Hi there
Not everyone are aware of the ppi reclaming procedures, and if issues got in the way, such as for example stress its maybe something you did not get round to doing.
I would explain in detail to the banking ombudsman your reasons for not dealing with this earlier or within the timescales.
Was it because you only just learnt of the mis selling of the ppi perhaps?
If so then there we go.;)
I assume this is from the bank and not the financial ombudsman service (FOS), please correct me on here otherwise thanks.
And Billy is right, try to avoid reclaiming companies, I would go through all other avenues first.
So please let us know this.....
You sent in a letter to reclaim to the business, they've let you down by asking why you left it so long (is this right)?
And did they give a final decision with details of the FOS?
Thanks.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
