Warranty loans?

Hi
I have recently completed a personal budget plan with the National Debtline and arranged reduced payments with all my lenders.
One of the lenders was an Edge card account I used to purchase electrical goods from Curry's in June 2008.

I contacted Santander (Edge are part of Santander apparently) and asked for a copy of the agreement, I was advised to do this by National Debt Line as Santander were not accepting my offer of reduced payments and this can sometimes help them to re-consider (they have now agreed by the way :-)

They sent me a copy of the loan T&Cs that I had signed.
When I was looking through my original paperwork I noticed an additional sum has been added as a warranty loan ???, I have no recollection of this and was unaware the products are/were covered.
There was no copy of my signed agreement to this included with what Santander sent me.

Does anyone know what this Warranty loan is, and whether I can get my money back as the total sum seems to be morethan the cost of the goods?

I would appreciate your input

Thanx ;)

    Hi and welcome

I am not absolutely sure on this to be honest, but if its a insurance and they added it without your knowledge then you can try to reclaim on it, or I'm sure you can do this anyway, especially as you were not aware of this, and of course its added to the debt as well and possibly worthless to you.

I would ask them for the booklet policy details on these, they should supply them free of charge at any time.

If you require even more documentation, the other way here would be to request a Subject Access Request in short known as a SAR.
They have 40 calendar days to comply and send all they still hold on the account, but you have to enclose a one off payment of £10 made by cheque or postal order.
There is a template letter for this on the link below.....

Maybe others on here will know more of these warranties and post up some info for you, but otherwise I would make a reclaim anyway with your reasons, good luck.:)
