I had a look at that site.. Is it really possible to apply for benefits online?

By that I mean don't they have to have actual physical forms with your signature on?

They will have - if I can find it on-line (in an editable format) - I can then fill it in, using Word..... sign it and post it to them !!
Surely - it must be possible (and even unlawful not to provide) a copy that can be filled in on-line ?

Incidentally - the site http://www.dwp.gov.uk/eservice/ is not the form - it is just the precurser to being sent the forms to fill in handraulically - ie) You will still need to fill in the forms !!

You can type your answers in Word and then attach copies to the form.
    Gone ... or have I?

Can I quote you on that ?
In the past - I have asked if I can do this and have received a negative response !!
The reason given being the fact that my signature needs to be on the "original" along with my responses ....
Which brings me back to the original question - why is the ESA50 not made "interactive" ?
ie) Editable on a PDF or even Word ?
    "most" other forms are.

hi cant you ask someone to fill in the form for you... you no you tell them the anserws thay write what you say for you then put a covering letter done on word that you are unable to sign and you dictated the answers to a friend....or you can fill some forms out over the phone and they send you a copy to look over then send back

I have done it several times, for myself and others. In each box on the form I write 'Please refer to attached sheets'. If you cannot do this, could you enter the numbers of the relevant sheet? If they are concerned about a signature, put your initials in the corner of each sheet, this is adequate for legal purposes so the DWP should not have a problem. If you are unable to write a legible signature, an 'X' will suffice.

Thanks - I will do this
But - if the form was made interactive (a simple job) - this would be so much easier
