Car supermarkets - where do they get their cars from ?

Call me stupid if you want but if I were selling a 2 year old motor in top condition, no accidents, FSH and so forth, I don't think I would be pushing it into an auction, where I could be largely guaranteed to get a poor price.
If one accepts that logic (only my opinion) then it begs the question as to where the car supermarkets get their cars from and whether they are offering cars with "issues" and history.

Some will have issues and history, they'll sell them anyway and fix (or avoid fixing lol) on a car by car basis.0
