What is the longest it has taken for 1st class post to get to you?

Ok, I am waiting on a package which was sent on the 10th August and has still not arrived (had post today). According to the seller it was sent first class.

What is the longest it has taken for something sent first class to get to you?

Once a letter (posted first class) took 5 months to arrive. But that was only only because the postman was stealing the post. We got a big bag full of post and a n apology letter from Royal Mail.

But normally for me it can be anything from the next day to a week.

As a seller I posted something first class on Tuesday 4th August, it was delivered on the Thursday 12th August. Luckily the buyer was patient

On the other hand, a couple of years ago I posted something by standard parcels first thing in the morning and it was delivered 50 miles way the same day

    You just never can tell!

I bought something yesterday on a Buy It Now.

It arrived today (Posted first class) with a little note in saying 'sorry for the delay'

And that came from Cornwall to Manchester.

What a strange response cyberbob. I have not "hassled" the seller in any way except confirming with them when it was sent so I know when to receive it. I have been polite and not accused the seller of anything so I think hassling is a bit of a strong word.

8 days last month to cross London- a birthday card from a relative to my son. I have waited a lot longer, but that one was recent and I thought it worth mentioning.

I also bought an item from a mega seller on ebay on the 5th, and apparently it was despatched the same day and has so far failed to arrive. They want me to wait until next Wednesday before they do anything....
