I'm never going to manage to pay all this off am I?
I know exactly how you feel - I sent a letter to MBNA, 10 days ago, explaining that my circumstances had now changed, and that I could not afford to make any payments, asking if they could hold off any action for 28 days whilst I looked at possible solutions.
Felt quite pleased, yesterday, when I picked up a letter from Customer Services at MBNA - until I read it. Exactly the same as you, monthly interest rate increased to 2.0084% from October:mad:
Thank you MBNA for acknowledging the fact that I was honest enough to recognise that I had a problem and decent enough to let you know.
If this is how you help people who recognise they are in trouble and want to get out of it, what do you do for fun - pull legs off spiders?I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I wish I'd never let them know about this to be honest-my interest might have stayed the same if they thought I was happily bumbling along making payments.Debts Jan 2014 £20,108.34

Yep-seems that's not the case when you're dealing with credit cards.I have to say though that Barclaycard have been superb-they offered to reduce my payments and freeze my interest after the second payment has been made and have been wonderful-certainly didn't make me feel as if it was my fault at any time or that i was a bad person and in fact recommended CCCS to me :)LLoyds have been good-stopped interest.Didn't reduce payment though.Monument have reduced payment and stopped interest too.Halifax I haven't heard anything from yet.Morgan Stanley-the payments are low and the rate is low so I'm happy to keep paying that as normal.Barclayloan threatened to default my account but didn't.It's only Abbey/MBNA that seem to be deliberately trying to make things more difficult. And it's not a case of higher balances being difficult as barclaycard and Abbey and MBNA mastercard all had about the same balances on them.Debts Jan 2014 £20,108.34
