Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) included in travel insurance policy?

Hi there,
Booked car hire for spain and don't wish to pay extra money to cover the car hire company's CDW. I know you can purchase CDW-only policies like carhireinsurance (etc) but just wanted to know whether anyone knows of annual travel insurance policies that also cover CDW? I know Amex does, but that is a prestige policy that costs quite a bit.
Many thanks!

You won't find one that does.
I chose icarhireinsurance, which offers a good Quidco cashback rate and a competitive price - available by the day or by the year:

Go via Quidco though!!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Thanks, yes. Still amounts to 42pounds though with icarhire.
And if American Express include CDW in some of their policies, there must be others that do it as well. I used to buy Australian policies (when living there) and they included it as well.
But yes, otherwise I may as well go for icarhire.
Thanks,

any one used car hire excess for CDW ?
Thanks0 -
just resurrecting this thread as I am still searching for 'normal' travel insurance policies that either include |CDW or where you can add it to your normal travel insurance policy.
Surely some travel insurers realise they are missing out by not offering this in their coverage?
Only Amex in the UK that does it so far I think!0 -
I'm not sure if the regular AMEX policy covers CDW, but the policy that comes with the Platinum Charge Card (not credit card) does provide the CDW coverage.
It's about £300/year for the package, but it can work out cost effective - especially if you share around the additional cards with relatives. (Each additional cardholder + partner + children are covered)0 -
Book a car through economycarhire and CDW is automatically included.0

Thanks people.
Will look into the platinum cover and see whether it fits the bill.
Yes, I did come across that economycarhire site the other day, but wasn't sure how legit it was and whether when you'd actually collect the car whether they would then say CDW isn't included. But I'll try then next time from Stansted.

CDW is included with economycarhire - I returned to a hire car to find a dent in the door. Called hire company to report it, but no charges due.0
