Elec
Standing Charge 32.70
Primary Rate 10.52 KWPH (First 750 KWPH per quarter)

I just wanted to check I'm getting the best rate around a all the price site deal with residental.... We need a Business Price check site.

I've just had a letter from Powergen informing me of yet more price rises. They were very sneaky, in that, they did not say what %age it was going up just what the new Cost per kWh would be.

It works out about an extra 20% (twenty per cent).

I looked back at a bill from Dec 2004 and on my Electricity I was paying 5.06p per kWh. Now it has just risen from 13.88p per kWh to 16.65p per kWh. A rise of about 330% in 21 months.

The Gas was 1.414p per kWh in Dec 2004 and is now rising to 3.559p per kWh - a rise of about 250%.

If they were loan sharks they would have been thrown into prison!!

Anyway, I work from home and those rates look better than I am paying, assuming that you don't have the 20% increase to come.

  • Just spoke to a decent lad called James on 0800 068 5523 who looked at my bills and worked out it would be more expenseive to switch to business use because of the standing charge, which personal customers do not pay and also because I would lose any discounts for dual fuel, DD and Tesco Clubcard points etc.

On personal, I'm paying about £805 for Gas and £750 for Electric and by going on to Business Tariff, each would be in excess of £1000.

He also quoted the Bus. rates at quite a bit higher than you mentioned Spikeybabe and wonder whether your rates are pre-price increase?
