Car Insurance!

Hi,
I've currently got an 08 plate 1.6 Ford Sport Ka SE, and have had my insurance renewal through at £380, which isn't too bad. I'm 22, and have 5 years no claims. (I'm with Tesco car insurance)
I'm looking to change my car, and really want a Vauxhall Tigra 1.4 Exclusiv, 58 plate. Tesco have quoted me £519 for the insurance, and Money Supermarket have quoted me well over a £1000.
Is there any reason why it would be more expensive to have a car with a smaller engine? My bf thinks maybe it's because it's a convertible...
Is there anywhere that could potentially insure it for less than £519?? Does anyone else have a Tigra, and if so, what do you pay for your insurance?
