Faster payments from A&L savings a/c

Faster payments still work on my A&L current a/c. The first payment after migration to Santander for each payee went by BACS but subsequent payments have gone by FP.0

Only one per day will go via FP even if both add up to less than £250. I have used FP several times since migration without problem bearing in mind that the first post migration payment to each payee goes by BACS.A&L are uttlerly random. i sent two payments the other day within 5 minutes of each other from the same acct, both to the same receiving bank. One took 20 minutes & one took 3 days.0 -
I've always had faster payments from my A&L current account up to £250 until tonight when I transferred £250 to HSBC. It didn't arrive straight away as normal so I asume it's going via BACS. Time to close all of my Santander accounts I thinkAwaiting a new sig0

We'll see A&L's reply to my secure message.
Finally got the reply to my message:
Thank you for your e-mail about your payment.
Like other banks, we are implementing Faster Payments in stages so our transaction limits could be different to those advertised by the Scheme at any given time, as could the type of transaction applicable for Faster Payments.
We have started sending payments of up to £250 but payments, especially initial ones, may sometimes be delayed due to occasional fraud checks. Only one per day can be sent at the moment, however, we will be making changes in the future.
Any payment not sent as a Faster Payment will be sent via BACS (Bankers’ Automated Clearing Services) which may take up to four working days.
There is information on our website, in the terms and conditions, on how long you need to allow for payments to be made. You may find this helpful when you plan your payments.
We hope you find the above information useful, however, should you have any further questions or need any more help, please visit our ‘Help’ section online or contact us again.

Exactly, help and Santander are not normally two words you use in one sentence are they?0

I suspect that only one in any 24 hour period is in fact more accurate. Having said earlier in the thread that my FPs always went through, this week I found that a second FP sent the following day but within 24 hours of the previous one went by BACS.We have started sending payments of up to £250 but payments, especially initial ones, may sometimes be delayed due to occasional fraud checks. Only one per day can be sent at the moment, however, we will be making changes in the future.

I suspect they've changed their software since I notice the transaction descriptions have changed. I used to get descriptions such as "INCOMING FASTER PAYMENT", "OUTGOING FASTER PAYMENT" and "OUTGOING FP SENT VIA BACS" (if the amount > £250). Since 5th Aug, I get "FASTER PAYMENTS RECEIPT" and "BILL PAYMENT".
So it looks like with the new software you can use faster payments to pay in, but not to pay out.Wearing my other one today.0
