I ordered bedroom furniture on Saturday 31 July and was informed that 3 items would be 14 day delivery and 1 item would be 21 day delivery.
I received no confirmation email so contacted them and received an email saying they'd had a problem with their system but confirmed my order and stated they would contact me on Sunday 29 August to arrange delivery.
I had a few emails regarding this asking why this was the case and kept being told their terms of conditions stated delivery could be anything up to 28 days. I pointed out that this was going to be more than 28 days delivery but they didn't respond to that. They said the items were out of stock but if that was the case then why didn't it say that when I ordered them?
I then realised they had taken payment for it (nearly £300) and when I queried that they said it was in the terms of agreement that payment was taken on an order being placed. I've never experienced that before though with any order and always find that payment is taken once items are about to be despatched. They will have my money for over a month.
I know that I could cancel the order but I have looked for the items elsewhere but can't find them and my son really wants them.
Do I have any say on them taking my payment so early or do I just have to put up with it?
Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks

they are technically reserving goods for you that they cannot now sell to other people so having your money is their incentive to do this.Back by no demand whatsoever.0

Try escalating, complaining and see what happens to Sara Weller, Argos Managing Director via sending her an email at sara.weller@argos.co.uk.
Good luck and hope this helps.
Escalating because they took money in return for goods? Its a con, rip-off and daylight robbery! Call the police, CID and MI5
Get real, you really are a broken record
It is annoying but are you going to force them to refund you just to take money at a later date, or maybe force them to buy more furniture
(not aimed at you OP)Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
I too ordered bedroom furniture from Argos - on 4 April. I received the wardrobe etc fairly quickly but the matching bed has been postponed 3 times now. I was given the option of cancelling the order or waiting and receiving some sort of compensation (wasn't told what). As the bed matches the furniture and I used a £50 voucher on ordering I decided to wait. My latest estimated delivery date was yesterday - not heard anything yet but fingers crossed!0

Maybe give them a call? If you chase it up theres less chance of anything going wrong (although never say never!).
As as a added side note, i took back a xbox 360 wireless headset yesterday as it keeps cutting out (apparently happens a lot with xbox own headsets) and they gave me an immediate choice of a refund/store credit/replacement.
I have to say, i dont think all chains are fully bad. Just certain stores (depending on the manager/staff you encounter). You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

There are too many reasons to explain why sending email to this address will not work, but trust me, it won't![DISCLAIMER: Any posts made by myself are my opinions and do not represent my employer]
