Garage Door

Has anyone had garage door fitted recently?

We are getting a new insulated sectional door fitted into our garage and the difference in the price seems staggering.

Our local guy quoted £2100 (inc fitting)
https://www.garagedoorsonline.co.uk quoted £1300 (exc fitting)

As the fitting the local quoted was £200, even if I had to pay double over to fit the online company's door, we'll still save £400. Only thing is, I've never used this company before and little suspicious why they are sooo much cheaper.....

As the garage door itself is the main element of the cost the question of quality of the product might just come into it. Additionally the local guy prolly doesn't have the buying power of the online company. But with the local guy you have the added comfort of dealing with someone you have met and know and when / if there is a problem will be there to fix it for you rather than having to deal with some faceless muppet at the end of an email whose prolly never even met the fitters they use and you'll never meet the same fitters again anyway.

    All needs taking into consideration.

double skinned sectional garage doors can be bought for 500 quid and upwards. (say 7x7).
local fitting should be no more than 200/300 quid.
    Get some gorm.

    Thanks guys!

I'm looking for insulated ones and we (unfortunately) have double garage - so its 4500x2200cm. Very expensive when it gets to this size!! We are going for securoglide or thermaglide (I'm told latter went into admin for 2nd time but securoglide bought it up and resurrected it again).

As I'm using CC, I'm hoping that will add some security. I might as the local guy if he will do fit only.... but something tells me he might not be happy to drop from over 2k order to 200 squids :)

Is it worth paying 10% of your contract value for the peace of mind that if anything goes wrong with the door or the installation workmanship you only have one guy to kick? If it is negotiate with the local guy to get his price down a bit otherwise it seems a no brainer to me.

    Thanks Keystone.

Spoke to the local guy who said he'll be no where near the price and wants £400 for installation is I'm sourcing the door. Which I thought was poor - as you said most people charge £2-300. I think I'll look for someone that may be a little further but fairer....
