Private Health Insurance Rip-off

Hi
I recently started a private heath insurance policy (AXA PPP).
I spoke with them about a medical condition I wanted to see a private doctor about. AXA PPP said that my insurance would cover it - they gave me an authorisation code and told me to get my GP to send a referral letter to the private hospital.
I have had my private appointment and now suddenly I receive a letter from AXA PPP saying that they won't cover it and they want me to pay £350 for the appointment.
Can they agree and then change their minds like this? There's no way I can pay - not sure where I stand.
Has anyone been in a similar situation?
Any advice gratefully appreciated

you mean private medical insurance. Axa are horrendous - I am in the process of lodging a complaint agianst them for them charging my wife 2 account fees as she has 2 polcies under one account - even though it clearly states in their KFD only one account fee will apply. I'd defintely refuse to apy and use the details from your ref as your reasoning.0

What reason did AXA PPP give for the declination?0

I have sent you a private message with my personal email address, requesting a few further details from you. If you’re happy to respond then I’ll look into the matter personally.

Company reps aren't allowed to just set up on MSE like this.

2) You are not allowed to use the pm system. MSE members are warned not to respond to requests for personal details like this.0
